Pakistan: Several parties stage anti-capitalism rally

From Pakistan Daily Times:

By Haris Hanif

KARACHI: Hundreds of activists from different political, nationalist and social parties took out a rally here on Saturday to show solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street campaign and global anti-capitalism movement started from the United States of America and then spread to various European countries.
The rally was started from Regal Chowk and culminated at the Karachi Press Club. It was organised by the Anti Capitalist Front (ACF), a joint endeavour of Labour Party, Communist Party, Awami Party, National Party, Jeay Sindh Mahaz, Workers Party, Watan Dost Inqalabi Party, National Trade Union Federation, Pakistan Trade Union Federation, Progressive Youth Front, Small Traders Association and many other workers, women, professional and human right organisations on the initiative of Sindh Progressive Committee.
The participants, including women workers and leaders of the parties, carried red flags, banners and portraits of Marx, Engles, Lenin ,Chee and Comrade Nazir Abbasi, the icons of socialist revolution.
The speakers said that historically capitalist economic system only survived on sucking fresh blood of poor nations through exploiting their natural resources and grabbing surplus value in the shape of accumulated capital generated by the working class under the yoke of private own means of production.
They further said that capitalist system was crumbling in its centres, the grave of the brutal economic system was dug and the current anti-capitalist movement had become the final ritual for the burial of the capitalism. The speakers emphasised that International Monetary Fund, World Bank, World Trade Organisation, Asian Development Bank and so-called globalisation had become the lethal toll in the hands of capitalism and imperialism to impose anti-people profit and greed based agenda all over the world.
They pledged that workers, oppressed nations and downtrodden masses had united against the onslaught of capitalism so as to liberate the world from yoke of capitalism. The rally was addressed by Akhter Hussain of Workers Party, Nasir Mansoor of Labour Party, Khaliq Junejo of Jeay Sindh Mahaz, Hassan Nasir of Awami Party, Dost Muhammed Chana of Watan Dost Party, Comrade Iqbal of Communist Party, Sajad Zaheer of Progressive Youth Front, Kaneez Fatima, Fareed Awan, Sharaft Ali, BM Kutti, Manzoor Razi, Manzoor Malah, Zehra Khan, Fahim Zaman and many other prominent trade unionists and human rights activists.
Many organisations distributed pamphlets and leaflets on the exploitative nature of capitalism and its worse affects on the lives of millions of working people all over the globe in shape of growing, poverty, unemployment, wars, bloodshed and occupation of countries by imperialist powers.
