Ms Bedi, admitted to Forgery & Cheating, Don’t Want Scoundrels to Educate Our Children

Ms Bedi, admitted to Forgery & Cheating, Don't Want Scoundrels to Educate Our Children

I am horrified to find Scoundrel IT Officer Kejriwal claiming Bedi forgeries & cheatings were no corruption when these are much more serious offences that also involve Criminal Conspiracy to Cheatings & Forgeries between herself, her NGOs and Travel Agents, Corrupting Air India in to giving business class vouchers when actually traveling in Economy Class.

She herself had admitted it of Billing for Business Class while actually traveling in economy class. Some organizations had rubbed salt in her wounds by rebutting that she demanded Two Business class return tickets to deliver some lecture same day same town but they agreed to pay economy class return tickets.

Anna Team is basically Mediocre, Scoundrels, Cheats & Crooks and contract Political agents working for BJP & RSS.

We don't need Scoundrels to Educate our Children.

IE didn't tell here that Bhushans and Kejriwal filed 'SK Dubey' PIL on behalf of Parivartan in April2004 to Scuttle CBI investigations to bail out Vajpayee Government when he was drawing Salary as IRS Officer on Study Leave, Collecting Donations etc.

These other bills
The Indian Express Posted online: Fri Oct 21 2011, 00:37 hrs

On at least 12 occasions, Kiran Bedi appears to have inflated her travel expenses while charging the institutions and NGOs inviting her for seminars, even as she used her own travel discount as a gallantry award winner — keeping the rest of the money for her own purposes. Bedi defends herself, saying that she was travelling less comfortably than she was entitled to, and using the money left over for her NGO. Her accountant also described this as a clever saving. But what would be a trivial human workaround by most people's standards is a grand moral lapse, by Team Anna's standards. Kiran Bedi's sanctimony and absolutism when it comes to others is what makes her small bill-fudging so damaging.

India Against Corruption rides on a wave of popular repugnance with rent-seeking, it has rallied citizens who have been bruised by their encounters with the state, with the red-tape and harassment, and the rampant corruption. But in that tide of emotion, the "movement" has chosen to simplify and polarise matters. Instead of formulating a broader vision about corruption, understanding its various contexts and the range of behaviours it describes, they narrowed the aperture to one specific version of the Lokpal bill — gheraoing legislators who objected to certain clauses, declaring them compromised. If Team Anna had been less given to immediate and unforgiving judgement, perhaps Bedi's explanations would have been received with a more open mind.

Whether it is Kiran Bedi inflating bills, Arvind Kejriwal being remiss in reimbursing the government for salary drawn while he was on study leave, or the Bhushans and their real estate investments, Team Anna should square with itself and then start identifying what constitutes corruption, deception, and what is simply human resourcefulness, or finding a way to live with rigid and unrealistic rules. What, for instance, are the clear lines between "I used it for my NGO" and "I used it for my political party"? This episode should be a reminder that what they call corruption comes in S, M and XL sizes and there is a difference between ordinary humbug and serious fraud, and those difference matter terribly. In a liberal democracy, these questions about ethics should always be up for debate, as should proposed solutions and checks. To cleanse the system we need a real, nuanced conversation, not grandstanding.

Raipur hosts put foot down, told Bedi can't pay you twice for same flight
Ashutosh Bhardwaj Posted online: Fri Oct 21 2011, 02:40 hrs

Raipur : Former IPS officer and Team Anna's Kiran Bedi claimed today that she was only trying to "save money" to educate children when she claimed full air fare — in many cases, even Business class — from her hosts while buying Economy at 75% discount thanks to her police gallantry medal.

At least one host put its foot down.

Referring to the The Indian Express report, Chhattisgarh, an evening newspaper, today reported on how in January this year, Bedi was invited by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Raipur, to attend the annual day function of its school R K Sharda Mandir and deliver a lecture on 'Probity In Public Life'.

O P Singhania, the secretary of the Bhavan and its accountant as well, told The Indian Express that Bedi's office asked for full Business class fare.

Meanwhile, Hanumant Yadav, a senior professor at the Hidayatullah National Law University in Raipur, who is also a member of the governing body of the Bhavan, invited Bedi to visit the law university to deliver a lecture the same day.

"Since she was in town, we thought why not call her to the university. And because the Bhavan was paying her fare, we thought she would not charge from us," said a university official.

But Bedi's office asked for Business class fare from the university too, said an official. Because Yadav was both with the Bhavan and the university, he alerted both.

"The university told us that she was charging from them also. They told us that either we pay or you pay," Singhania told The Indian Express. "In the end, the university paid her fare."

That's not all. Her office claimed Business class fare even though the flight that she used had only Economy class, said a university official. "We had to decline the Business class request and we paid her Economy fare," he said.

According to the report in Chhattisgarh, her office had asked for Rs 30,000. "She was eventually paid not more than Rs 9,000-10,000 by the university," added Singhania.

Asked why her office had approached both the Bhavan and the university and asked each to pay for what was the same journey, Bedi told The Indian Express: "No one has claimed (anything). Every thing is offered, the invitees invite and offer. And anything saved is ploughed into the (India Vision) Foundation (her NGO) for causes. So what is the issue? Who is the beneficiary? Not me. It's back to causes. I donate all my book royalties, writing honorariums, award moneys, speaker fees and more. And most of all my time and energy... (I) choose to travel to reach out for the larger good."

I am downgrading myself to save for a cause: Kiran Bedi

Denies allegations over air fare issue
Published: October 21, 2011

Team Anna slipped into deeper crisis on Thursday with allegations levelled against key member Kiran Bedi for charging her hosts full fare on air tickets while availing herself of discounts.

Although Ms. Bedi, who runs an NGO, and the Team's leading light Arvind Kejriwal asserted here on Thursday that there was "no corruption involved," questions are being raised about the irregularity.

A section of the media reported on Thursday that she had been charging NGOs and institutions that invite her for seminars and meetings inflated travel expenses while utilising her entitlement as a gallantry award winner for discount fares and, at times, claiming Business class fares while travelling Economy.

Maintaining that the event organisers/corporates who invited her were in the know of the arrangement, Ms. Bedi told journalists that there was "no personal gain" for her. She said she saved the difference in fare for her NGO, India
Vision Foundation, to be utilised for causes.

"Business class travel is part of the invitation/entitlement from the event organisers/corporates I'm asked to speak at.

Travelling economy is a choice, despite entitlement, to ensure that savings remain with the NGO and used for those events which cannot pay travel. I am downgrading [as opposed to upgrading in air travel] myself to save for a cause.
There is no personal gain whatsoever," Ms. Bedi said.

According to her, the corporates/event organisers who invited her wrote out a cheque covering Business class fare in the name of her foundation and left it to the NGO to make travel arrangements for her.

Asked if she did not believe this would hurt the 'India Against Corruption' movement, she countered, "What is the corruption involved? Many people avail free airline tickets in the name of a cause. Is that corruption? Have I siphoned
off any funds? Sorry to disappoint detractors trying real hard to find a smoking gun, even more so when we are in the anti-corruption movement."

Questioning the timing of the disclosure, Mr. Kejriwal said this was an attempt to derail the anti-corruption movement. "There is no corruption involved. Even so, if any party feels aggrieved, it can file an FIR." A bureaucrat, however, opined that such action against a serving officer would be "viewed seriously.".
