Sikh students' body concerned over HR abuses in Kashmir

Ludhiana, December 18 (KMS): The Sikh Students Federation (SSF) in India has denounced the gross human rights violations perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

The President of SSF, Parmjeet Singh Gazi, in a statement issued in Ludhiana, said that the troops were involved in widespread and systematic torture of innocent Kashmiris. He said that the Indian government was committing heinous crimes against humanity not only in the occupied territory but also in many parts of India where people opposed its imperialist policies and wanted to live with dignity.

He said that the Sikhs in their homeland Punjab were subjected to similar techniques of brutal torture at mass level during 1980s and 1990s. "Sikhs were killed in fake encounters and were cremated as unidentified and unclaimed dead bodies. The number of persons so cremated rank more than twenty five thousand," Parmjeet maintained.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the Indian judicial system, the SSF President appealed the international rights organizations to investigate into the reports of torture and killings of people across the occupied territory.
